A Garden of Love Grows In A Grandmother's Heart

We all have heard of this beautiful quote before, "a garden of love grows in a grandmother's heart." And some of us are blessed to have had the presence of this wonderful woman in our lives, regardless of whether in the past, or even in the present or maybe in the future, we would be naming someone grandmother, maybe it's our grandmother; maybe it's our mother; maybe we'll be called one someday later. But, we cannot deny one thing, that is, grandmothers are truly the best cook!

From birth, I knew this wonderful and beautiful woman, she took care of me whenever I visit them in KL during my holidays. I remember the times when I suffered from coughs or even asthma, she would wake up at wee hours to rub some ointment of my chest. I even remember her famous quote, "You cough, cough, cough so much, later you cough until your lungs come out." (I laughed while typing the sentenced out).

During the days of college, I remember the times she would make sure I take enough fruits back with me over the week so I could stay healthy and strong. I would not be given ordinary eggs back either, instead, omega eggs. I remember the different types of biscuits she makes me that back, fearing I do not get enough food in my dietary intake. I remember the times she would greet me from the car with an umbrella when it was pouring. Or when the sun was shining, she'd be ready with a bag of food. On Saturdays, we visit our frequent noodle shop; she treats me with a bowl of noodle and dumplings to go along with it, along with a cup of cold coffee to drink. Everyone knew her; the noodle-uncle; the butcher or the fish monger at the market. I guess, you really can't miss this cheery lady!

She'd cook everybody's favourite, not missing out on any grandchildren; from poh piah, to egg plant fish, herbal chicken, kueh pie tee, mee hun soup, 3 layer pork, and even to pak cham kai. All our favourites laid on the dining table during our reunion dinners.

I really thank God, that I'm blessed with a wonderful grandmother, I thank God that she's alive and healthy; lovely and caring. I pray to Him, for her salvation in the Lord, that she may know this greatest gift ever, for her to partake in this life and journey as a family of God. I pray that today, her birthday, she would be able to experience the love, joy and peace of the Lord even through us.

Blessed Birthday, Grandma! I love you.

The funny thing is that I look like her, and my mom looks like her, and I look like my mom, So when I'm my mom age I'll look like her now, when I'm 70 plus I'll look like my grandma. Just that I'm much darker, like grandpa.
